Three Harrison cops and the town code enforcement officer, who were suspended for exchanging sexual jokes about the town supervisor on their Facebook pages, will soon be back at work, after paying for their transgressions.
The Town Board, acting as police commissioners, adopted a resolution approving the terms of the punishment on Thursday.
The “Facebook Four” – as Detectives Richard Light and Frank Massaro, Police Officer Mike DiLauria, and Code Enforcement Officer Ed DiBuono have come to be known – have been ordered to complete 30 hours of community service with the town’s Meals on Wheels program and have been demoted or suspended without pay for varying periods of time.
The stipulations also call for “sensitivity training” – on the employees’ own time – and demand letters of apology from all four. The resolution also announced Light’s demotion and reassignment.
This story made me think of how hopefully etiquette will change with all the technology and social networks connecting all of us.
